In 2008 gap year student Hamish Jackson met Julius Eduardo in Jinja, Uganda. Julius was missing school because his single mother couldn’t afford the fees. Hamish discovered that only £20 a term was enough to cover the school fees for Julius. So he decided to help.
In Uganda, Charles Macharia was Hamish’s gap year guide. In only 5 weeks, Charles and Hamish had become close friends. They agreed to stay in touch and continue to support Julius…and so the initiative grew. In 2009 the organization was registered in Kenya as non profit charitable Trust.

To date the MASH foundation has sponsored 37 pupils, established 5 social enterprises:

  • Drugs awareness Snakes and Ladders
